Bangi Golf Resort

Bangi Golf is very fresh in my mind. I played here twice this week and i can say , this course is short and challenging. Longest Par 4 are measuring at 349M and the longest Par 5 are 480M. This means , a good drive and a good second shot give you a 2 on the green for every of this.

Bangi has 5 tee box color. Golf , Black , Blue , White and Red. It's a 27 hole golf course which is the Kajang Nine , Putrajaya Nine and Bangi Nine. I played all this 3 this week.

Kajang and Putrajaya would be recommend to play in as it's short , a lot of shade and the beauty of it.

Bangi Nine is a new one and i tell you , you will die of heat in here if the weather is hot. There are trees everywhere , but those tree is even shorter than you. They just planted it and you got no place to hide while waiting for your friend to tee off or sink his putt. Make sure you put enough of sun block lotion onto you before playing this Bangi Nine. And , i had never seen so many bunker in a nine. Not just many , it's big and long. In certain holes , fairway bunker are as long as the fairway. And greenside bunker are bigger than the green. There's one hole where i dont really remember which one , had 3 bunkers which resemble the St Andrew style bunker. First of all i have no idea what that thing is until i go near it. The good thing about this Bangi Nine is there arent much water hazard and you can go 1 on the green in the last hole measuring 299M downhill.

1) Price
Walk in pays RM89 which include a meal voucher worth RM15 which means you dont have to pay for lunch. Prices of the food here is slighty cheap and worth.

2) Fairway
Fairway are well maintained and it's bermuda grass. The sad thing is the drainage of this course is poor. Fairway would be muddy and soggy after rain.

3) Green
Green are pretty bad in Kajang and Putrajaya Nine. It's hard and your ball wont hold much. Part of the green are under maintainance and if your ball landed in certain area , you will face a very bad lie. Bangi Nine had better green which is soft enough to get some spin on it and it's slightly fast. Long putting might be fruasting because green in Bangi Golf is really huge. Pin placement doesnt change at all in 3 weeks already. I knew this because 2 weeks ago my friend played and he say it's the same. And today when i play again , it's still the same.

4) Clubhouse
Clubhouse looks like a pathway with tables and chair beside it. Something like roadside stall. I mean the area where we drink and eat. Registration counter is pretty small and receptionist can be very busy in weekends. Very Busy. It's not a high class one like Staffield. The buggy station , cafeteria , bag drop , changing room , pro shop and registration counter are all in the same place. It makes the clubhouse looks very pack.

5) Others
WIth a price of RM89 , it's a worth playing course. I rather choose here than Danau RM84 which i will review later. Such cheap golf course is offering bermuda grass and the green are still playable although it's not in tip top condition. And you can have fun with some course management thing because this course will make you think to choose which club to tee off and the landing area. For me , i keep my driver most of my time even for a Par5 hole and i use my 5 wood the most.

It's a must try course because it's hardly to find such short course and a challenging one. Playing here is the time for you to use your mind and do some course management. I can say , not much course where you can tee off with a 3 iron and it's a good choice. If i tee off with a 3 iron for a Par4 and a 5 wood for a Par5 let's say in Seri Selangor , flight mate would probably say i'm showing off.

Staffield Country Resort

Mantin , located just at the border of Negeri Sembilan and Selangor is a rated top 5 golf course in Malaysia named Staffield Country Resort. It use to be my home club. The funny thing with Staffield is the logo they are using and it's a Chicken. A Rooster.

Staffield is always in my heart. Everytime i go there and play , it reminds me of 7 years ago being a kid. Every staff in Staffield knows me as i beat many middle age golfer. Imagine a 12-13 years old in a buggy with 3 middle age man and the one who conquer the game is that kid. And he is teeing off at the blue tee box. When i'm 10 , i start out with the red tee box. Next year , i went to the white and for the following year it's the blue tee box. At the age of 13 , i'm able to drive 230M.

Let's go back to Staffield. It has 3 Nine's , the Northern , Southern and Western. Western is the easiest to play and very forgiving with wide fairways and short Par 4. Southern is the most scenic with a lot of trees and the signature hole number 8 Par 3 where you have to tee off across the water to the green measuring 164M. Northern would be the longest one and hardest to play as there's a lot of trees and ponds.

Western is the easiet and a must play if you want to have a nice golfing day. So start out with Northern and next with Western. Or the other choice is start with Western and next to Southern.

There's a driving range and this is the place where you can practice on the grass and it's well maintained.

1) Price
Price are always different. During the Ramadhan is RM100 for weekends. And now i guess is RM120 for weekends and RM75 for weekdays. It's totally worth to play as you can really have a lot of fun here.

2) Fairway
Fairway are well maintained in most of the holes. Except some where you can find mix of Bermuda and Cowgrass. Due to my experience , you can only find 3 holes in such situation(cowgrass in the middle of the fairway) which is the Southern Hole #1 , Western Hole #4 and Hole #5.

3) Green
Green are forgiving with average speed but dont expect your ball will spin here. It's a hard one. Green are well maintained where you can have a smooth putt. And it's a forgiving green. Easy to read green.

4) Clubhouse
One of the most beautiful clubhouse i have ever been to where you can have your 19th hole here facing the last hole of the beautiful Western and Southern course. Food are not too shabby and try the fried tauhu. Tasty one.

5) Others
Caddies are all ladies in here. I might say they dont know anything about golf but this is what i like. They wont disturb my game. They just take care of your clubs , see where your ball lands , clean and mark your balls. This is what a caddy should do and what i want them to do. Besides golfing , there's a tennis court , squash , swimming pool , pro shop ( Pan West ) , and nursery room. The changing room is a high class one with spacious bath room and nice locker.

Staffield is a course where you can really have fun and feel the challenging. Both of it. And it's a golf course with a lot of shade althought there isnt much tree around. This is the weird thing and until now i still cant figure it out. So , experience the beautiful and windy day of golf in Staffield.

Driving Range

Most of my golfing time are spent practising on the driving range. 4 times a week whacking 600 balls. And it's about 4 hours depending on which range i go.

Since i'm a student of UKM , most of my time(when i'm studying) are spent on UKM driving range. The condition of this driving range is totally out. 7/10 of the mattress are worn out and the worst is the range ball. It's totally out. Imagine no matter how hard you hit your ball will never pass the 200M distance pole. And your ball may fly high and it also drop very fast. I mean , extremely fast. It's like up , up , up , up , DOWN !! A local University with funds from goverment , i hope they will upgrade their range. The good thing is , i only pay RM4 for 100 balls. Student price. Normal price would be RM8.

IOI Palm Garden range is my favourite. Their mattress and balls are all in good condition. And it has a short game facilities behind it , a small cafeteria for you to rest and chit chat and you can actually hit your ball on the grass at the left side of the range. Grass are not that good but at least there is some nice bermuda on it. Price for 100balls are RM10 and with coupon of RM100 you can get 1200 balls.

Cheras Driving Range which is located in Taman Cuepacs (at the left side of Batu 9 RM1 toll) is another of my training ground. 100 balls before 4pm would cost you only RM6 and it will go to RM10 after 4pm. Mattress are in good condition but no as good as IOI. It's a uphill driving range so your ball wont go that far. Anyway , it's a nice place to practice. With a pro shop and a cafeteria in it , you can spend hours in it if you have a friend with.

IOI Palm Garden would be the best place to train , for me. It's near to my home and with great practicing facilities. I mean the place where you can practice your short game. It's well maintain and the green is fast. You can even get a small chance to see your ball spinning around it.

Golfers like me are born in the driving range. Not in golf course. I'll make sure i go to range first before i start a game.

Introducing

Let's start with introducing myself. My name is Wilson and i'm 20 years old. A student from UKM and living in Kajang.

I'm super crazy in golf and in fact when i started golfing when i'm 10 i dream to be a professional golfer one day. Sadly the previous economic crisis destroyed my dream. Luckily , i get to start golfing again this year in July after stopped for 7 years. Why July ? I entered UKM and Danau Golf Club was there. And i know it's time for me pick my golf club back and start my golfing again.

5 month of golfing consistenly , i'm now a 18 handicapper. Well , i dont have any home club but my golf lecturer promise to give me a handicap in my next semesteer. Talking about golfing consistently , i go driving range 4 times a week whacking 600 balls. And 1 18 hole game.

What is in my bag ? I'm carrying a Ogio Edge Bag.. And in it is my ,
1) Nike SQ460 10.5' Driver
2) Wilson Staff Fybrid 3W 15'
3) Perry Gear 20' 3 Hybrid
4) Daiwa OnOff Gravity Control 4-AW Irons
5) Cleveland 588DSG 56' Wedge
6) Team Daiwa Top Series 60' Wedge
7) Ping Anser Putter
8) Titleist Pro V1/X

Everyone have have DOS and DONT'S in golf. For me , DO practice before going for a game and dont take your sweet time in the course. DON'TS , don't ever comment on my game especially from caddies and best is no caddy for me please.

Junior age had passed. No more SportExcel Junior Golf Circuit for me. I just love my junior age so much whereby i had so much fun in the Golf Circuit. I miss it so much.
